Back in Auckland and the start of Australian adventures!

So we dropped off our campervan and flew back up north to Auckland where Kieran’s friend picked us up! Played a bit of mini-golf! Fun times!

Image

Then back to the airport to fly to Australia! 2 weeks of Australian adventures! Upon arrival we saw this sign..

Image

We thought we were in for that Australian border control tv show! False alarm! We got through and it was practically empty!

Kieran’s friend picked us up and we headed back to theirs for the night! And OMG.. first encounter of wild kangaroos! One massive one hopped right out onto the road and was bouncing along ahead of us!! Then a smaller one after that! Was crazy! I was like.. AHHH OMG KANGAROOOOOO! And the guy goes “yeah, this is very common in Australia”. Wooo Woo! So if you like kangaroos/wallabies, this is your country.. IF you’re not afraid of large insects!

Then we went to visit some wild koala bears! Can you spot them!?

Image

It was hard to get close ups because they were so far away.

Then to the 12 apostles… I didn’t quite see twelve, but that happens as the rocks wear down from the waves

Image

And them some rock pool where eels swim up to during spawning season apparently

Image

We visited the Gold Mines and the towns they were inImage

Image

Then off to wildlife park! I loved the wildlife parks in Australia because wallabies and kangaroos were everywhere! And you can buy little seed packets and feed them or feed them bread! and the time we were there there were little babies in the mother kangaroo’s pouches!

Mother wallaby with baby wallaby poking out awkwardly! But so cute at the same time!

Image

And parrots!

Image

And then our friend Diesel! Drunk on his Eucalyptus leaves!

Image

Beautiful view from a hill top!

Image

We went to visit China town! So amazing! If you’re interested in Chinese culture or even if you’re Chinese with no interest, it’s really amazing. Just the history there!

Image

Image

A very pretty white tree!

Image

One of the many piers in Melbourne!

Image

Then off to see the little penguins! They didn’t let us take pictures of the actual penguin in case we scared them, so this is as good as it gets! 😀

Image

Walking the forest!! Strange seeds in the trees!

Image

Beautiful tropical flowers! I LOVE!

Image

Kangaroo paws.. because they look like kangaroo’s paws!

Image

These were SO PRETTY! My fav!

ImageImage

All these flowers were so eye-catching!

Image

The Birthday Candle plant!

Then off to the Melbourne Museum! It’s absolutely amazing so I’d definitely go if you ever visit Melbourne! Kids and adults will find it so much fun!! Just so many things to see!

Our campervan journey (part 7)

Good MORNING! We got a nice/nasty little surprise when we woke up! Usually I love snow but when you’re driving in a massive BOX (and a very heavy one too!) it is a little scary!

Image

We decided to just drive and see how it goes, couldn’t possibly be THAT bad… Until we arrived at a hill.. and just from sheer weight we couldn’t make it up! Kept sliding back down! TERRIFYING! because we were on the road from Glenorchy to Queenstown and it’s rather quiet with few cars so the snow built up pretty quickly! So we were stuck on the hill for at least 1 hour trying to get our campervan over! Luckily we rented out snow chains but silly us trying to put them on when we were on the hill! So eventually we pulled over by the edge (very dodgey because these roads were windy) so I had to keep watch! It was absolutely FREEEEZING and putting these chains on were like hell because our hands got so cold and numb it was nearly impossible!!

Image

We were on the verge of a break down and the snow just got worse and worse. But after 2.5 hours of hard work, we FINALLY managed to get it on and off we went

… at 8km/hr… the snow chains really don’t let you go very fast… the campervan just shakes vigorously the whole time we’re driving.. and guess what.. once we were over the hill, for some strange reason, there was hardly any snow! So there we were at snails pace driving until after 20 mins we were like, no we’re taking them off! Screw it if we come across snow again, highly unlikely anyways! So off they came and we were on our way to Queenstown again!

Image

So we can now say we’ve experienced ALL 4 seasons in New Zealand!

It was great to experience snow! So we decided to go back and do another Canyon Swing in the snow! AMAZING! The view was just so beautiful!! The good thing is they give you a wristband that you can keep and while you’re in Queenstown after your first jump, you can do more jumps after that for much cheaper!

Image

The place where you jump off is to the right of the picture! But beautiful view right?!

Image

And of course after a snowy jump we had to end our awesome day with a ferg burger!! 😛

Our campervan journey! (Part 6)

Good morning Queenstown ❤

Image

Image

The start of a very cold morning! And Kieran the crazy man decided to go for a swim in the icey cold water and ended up with purple feet! Hilarious!

Image

Drove back to Wanaka to watch another movie in Rubys! 😛 But before that we decided to pop into Federal Diner’s for a Latter! They do amazing coffees and deserts!! Very friendly staff too!

Good night

Our campervan journey! (Part 4)

Another part of the mirror lake Image

The other glacier, Fox Glacier, if you want to see glacier for free, it’s just as good! Just a short trek uphill! Image

Our walk back down the hill! Very Lord of The Ring like scenery! It was very wet that day! Image

Crazy green water next door! Image

Kieran ruining the stillness of the water! The messer!

Image

This was a really nice stoney beach.. but as you can see it was deathly, riddled with sandflies! If you came out that campervan with any revealing flesh, you’d be eaten alive!! We were INSIDE our campervan and they were all over the windows! So gross! Going back in was like.. SPRAY THE INSECT REPELLENT QUIIIIIIICK!!

Image

Image

Image

We loved Ruby’s! Tuesdays was “cheap tuesdays” and they had a free bar of chocolate voucher on the tourist maps! High quality richfields dark chocolate! So tasty!!! Such a pretty boutique cinema with nice comfy chairs and velvet cushion walls!

Our campervan journey! (Part 3)

Getting excited about trekking Franz Josef’s glacier!

Image

Image

Image

Helicopter ride back down! It was good! but could have been better! No offense to the group we were with but if we had been with a younger and fitter group the guide would have done way cooler stuff like going through crevasses etc with us! He kept saying.. yeah it’s real cool in there, real cool down there, but we’re not doing that today. Grrr.. paid so much just for a 2 hour walk. So make sure to ask if the people you’re booked with can do fun things and not just walk. It was a bit annoying.

Image

The mirror lake! Drove all the way out there and unfortunately it was raining and cloudy! Would have been cool though!
