Just off the dart and to be greeted by this view… Unreal. Dun Laoighre bay I think. Beautiful.

MORE UPDATES!

Naaaah.. not really! Nothing much has happened really apart from apple picking! But good news is that we only have 2 more days MAX of apple picking left! We have improved A LOT since I last blogged! We can easily pick 10 bins now if we want to. But tiredness do hit us now and again, and even though we’ve gotten better at picking, the picking season is pretty much over, so pretty much just juice left to pick (those are $20 a bin!) With juice you can be as rough with the fruit as you like.. hence faster to pick! But not as good money! We have probably a few more bins of juices to pick in the orchard we’re staying in and HOPEFULLY a day of normal picking left.

I have learned through these last few weeks that picking with BOTH hands is CRUCIAL if you want to pick more bins! It really does make a difference!

We did go see the wonderful beaches around here last week actually, Ocean beach and Waimarama beach

Ocean beach was very beautiful! We spent an hour there soaking up the sun.. because we don’t get enough of it already when we’re picking apples!

Image

Kieran wanted to swim but the winds got a bit chillier so we decided better not because the waters aren’t exactly warm either.

The drive to Ocean beach is awesome too! All the windy roads where you can drive up to 100mph! CRAZY! There was a part of the road that had collapsed, pretty scary to imagine those speeding down at 100mph and having a road collapse on them.. Luckily it was fenced off for us.

Image

Image

Image

Waimarama beach was beautiful too! Didn’t stay that long though because we’d already had an hour in the sun… don’t want brown leathery skin when we’re older.. oh no!

Image

Image

It was SOOo hot we got Iceeee creaam to cool us down! Boysenberry flavoured icecream is SOOO tasty! $3 for a massive scoop of icecream, well worth it!

Image

I think everyone should try boysenberry flavoured ice cream at least once when they come visit New Zealand! So tasty!

Finally some decent internet…

So I apologise for the lack of update. We have left Nelson almost 2 weeks now and we got the intercity bus from Tahunanui to Picton, to get the ferry out to Wellington for one night and then onwards to Hastings!

Image

The scenery was very nice and we went by Havelock which is apparently famous for its green lipped mussels! I kinda wanted to get off and eat some before Picton!

Image

When we got to Picton we had a while to wait before we board the ferry so we had a wee wander around the town. We found a museum called “Museum” but had no idea what was in it… Didn’t want to pay $10 to find out!

Image

Picton Foreshore was where we ate food and it was very pretty! We were also very lucky that it was a beautiful sunny day! Bit windy, but can’t complain!

Image

Another thing I learned was that they don’t use the word flip flops here, instead they use Jandals. I went into a shop and asked where their flip flops were and they looked a bit confused… then I was like.. “Sorry.. I mean Jandals!”

Image

And we’re on the ferry!

Image

The view on the ferry was simply breath-taking! I really wanted to do panoramic shots but it wasn’t possible because I was on a moving ferry! Still got some good shots though!

Image

Image

That’s another ferry coming the opposite way!

Image

Image

Image

We were playing monopoly because it was quite tiring standing and watching the view. We got sick of it.. Ha! Nah, we sat by the window and played with the view in front of us and a nice pint of Max Gold! Rather pleasant!

Image

It was SUPER windy outside! That’s Wellington in the distance I think!

Image

And that’s the route for the ferry!

Image

We went down to the kids play center… It looked fun but we weren’t allowed play because we were too tall. Only kids small than the pirate was allowed to play. 😦

Nelson Market..

SO it was a Saturday yesterday and we decided to go see the Nelson Market which opens from 8 am till 1 pm! It was good to see it, just to say we’ve been there and done that kind of thing! I personally didn’t find it much interesting after the first 10 minutes. If you like jewellery and fruits and vegetables and maybe random little things, you’d like it.. I think I just described the typical market place. 😛 But I guess what I was hoping for was finding fresh green lipped mussels… Oh well.. I did buy a nice straw hat, made 100% from seagrass, made by Serious straws in Mapua.

Image

Spent most of my time then just paddling by the beach in Tahunanui or just walking on the sand! There’s always some kite-surfers around so if you’re into kite-surfing, I say this beach would be a nice visit!

Image

We went to see sunset by the beach later on but the sun was pretty much behind the mountains by the time we decided to go! Still managed to get a nice photo I think..

Image

And the moon was out too!
