Back in Auckland and the start of Australian adventures!

So we dropped off our campervan and flew back up north to Auckland where Kieran’s friend picked us up! Played a bit of mini-golf! Fun times!

Image

Then back to the airport to fly to Australia! 2 weeks of Australian adventures! Upon arrival we saw this sign..

Image

We thought we were in for that Australian border control tv show! False alarm! We got through and it was practically empty!

Kieran’s friend picked us up and we headed back to theirs for the night! And OMG.. first encounter of wild kangaroos! One massive one hopped right out onto the road and was bouncing along ahead of us!! Then a smaller one after that! Was crazy! I was like.. AHHH OMG KANGAROOOOOO! And the guy goes “yeah, this is very common in Australia”. Wooo Woo! So if you like kangaroos/wallabies, this is your country.. IF you’re not afraid of large insects!

Then we went to visit some wild koala bears! Can you spot them!?

Image

It was hard to get close ups because they were so far away.

Then to the 12 apostles… I didn’t quite see twelve, but that happens as the rocks wear down from the waves

Image

And them some rock pool where eels swim up to during spawning season apparently

Image

We visited the Gold Mines and the towns they were inImage

Image

Then off to wildlife park! I loved the wildlife parks in Australia because wallabies and kangaroos were everywhere! And you can buy little seed packets and feed them or feed them bread! and the time we were there there were little babies in the mother kangaroo’s pouches!

Mother wallaby with baby wallaby poking out awkwardly! But so cute at the same time!

And parrots!

And then our friend Diesel! Drunk on his Eucalyptus leaves!

Beautiful view from a hill top!

We went to visit China town! So amazing! If you’re interested in Chinese culture or even if you’re Chinese with no interest, it’s really amazing. Just the history there!

A very pretty white tree!

One of the many piers in Melbourne!

Image

Then off to see the little penguins! They didn’t let us take pictures of the actual penguin in case we scared them, so this is as good as it gets! 😀

Image

Walking the forest!! Strange seeds in the trees!

Image

Beautiful tropical flowers! I LOVE!

Image

Kangaroo paws.. because they look like kangaroo’s paws!

Image

These were SO PRETTY! My fav!

All these flowers were so eye-catching!

Then off to the Melbourne Museum! It’s absolutely amazing so I’d definitely go if you ever visit Melbourne! Kids and adults will find it so much fun!! Just so many things to see!

The most frustrating thing ever…

..when you write a very long entry and wordpress crashes on you which means you’ve to write it all out again! So let’s try this again… and if it crashes.. then it’s clearly not meant to be!

So we bought caramel ice cream sauce yesterday in a big supermarket called Countdown. But didn’t realize that it was already expired by a month! So we went back today to exchange it and they refunded us the one we bought and gave us another one for free! We were delighted that we saved $3.10!! We enjoy shopping the foods that are on offer! Ya can’t really go wrong with saving money here and there! We found out this morning that it’s pancake Tuesday today so we bought pancake mix too! So excited about pancakes tonight! We’re having pancakes with french vanilla ice cream after dinner (left over thai green curry) for desert!

We also went to visit the cathedral in Nelson. I was expecting something spectacular when i saw the steps up to it.. but when I got up to the top it was the least spectacular thing up there… the trees were even nicer to look at.

Image

Not saying it’s not nice, but in my own opinion.. it’s rather plan and uninteresting. Though someone else might see it and love it.. so that’s just me.

Image

While we were waiting for the bus to head back to Tahunanui (where we are staying) we went to a swedish bakery to get some pastries! To our surprise there were more danish pastries and swedish ones! Kieran got a custard pastry with fresh strawberries while I got a cinnamon and almond danish pastry! The lady took $1 off each of our pastry because she said it was not that fresh anymore… even though it was only 3:30pm. Well.. when we ate it we were pretty sure it was fresh! Still soft and smelled delicious!
